Check out an interview with Chris and Janet by Bob Webster on www.bluegrasscountry.org this week. It was recorded last month before a concert at the famous Lucketts Old Schoolhouse Concert in Lucketts, VA, and will air throughout this week. Check their website for times.

We toured Florida up to Maryland after IBMA this year. This is the Castillo de San Marcos National Park in St. Augustine, Florida, where Chris was a tour guide in the 1980s. As part of our ongoing Backcountry Tour of America we'll try to present a different national or state park every month. more tour photos

Dale Ann Bradley has also recorded a great version on her new album "Catch Tomorrow" on Compass Records.

Fun things Please consider buying CDs or Songbooks or caps or t-shirts for the Holidays!
Janet Beazley 5 South Backcountry is not just a band name. We're involved with raising awareness of the needs of the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation. Please take some time to visit a National Park and contribute to causes that support the preservation of the American wilderness and historical sites.

Sitings Along the Mysterious Road:

• Salt Run - We played recently in St. Augustine, Florida, and I got to visit with the members of the first bluegrass band I was in, Salt Run--Jim Quine, David Dowling, and Tommy Mechling. It was a great reunion and amazingly, none of us had aged at all. . . ! And it was great to see Dale Gilliland Child again and doing so well; and Liz and Lon Williamson and hear them play at the Creekside Dinery in St. Augustine. If you want some great North Florida Low Country cuisine, stop by there.

And always be sure to catch Liz and Lon playing, and also David Dowling at the Milltop. It was great seeing all those old friends again! It's still my favorite place on earth.

It was also great to visit with David Dowling and Don Oja-Dunaway (who wrote "Kennesaw Line" one my favorite songs that Claire Lynch and others have recorded) at the Milltop and reminisce about the great Gamble Rogers, who's been gone from us far too long, fifteen years now. If you've never heard Gamble's songs and stories, you need to. And also go to the Gamble Rogers Festival in St. Augustine, Florida. He was one of the most brilliant and beloved musicians and songwriters America's produced.

D'Addario strings We're happy endorsers of D'Addario strings--the best strings in the universe.
