We're working on the new band album up at Eric's studio in Apple Valley, CA and hope to have it out before June.

We have photos of our November tour of Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Switzerland. And a bunch of videos of us playing in Wognum, Netherlands for the gig that our good friend Loek Lamers presented. Below is our gig at the Dolder 2 in Switzerland, and CSB with Lilly Pavlak who's been active in European Bluegrass for many years.

Here's our 2008 schedule for this year. Not as much traveling, but we'll be working on the new album and making music closer to home.

Chris's feature article on Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out is the cover piece for the February Bluegrass Unlimited magazine. And Chris wrote the liner notes for a couple of new Rounder releases, Rhonda Vincent's Good Thing Going and IIIrd Tyme Out's compilation Footprints.

Janet's song "From Now On" was just recorded by Sierra Hull on her new album due out soon. Janet has also started a bluegrass jam for students at the University of California Riverside.

Chris's song "Thibodeau" appears on Claire Lynch's compilation Crowd Favorites, and Larry Cordle recorded Chris's song "First Train Robbery" on Cord's new album, Took Down and Put Up on Lonesome Day Records.

Chris's song "Single Candle" was used in a Christmas play Angel of the Christmas Mine, by playwrite Chris Sorenson, at a theater in Colorado . Here's a video clip of the performance.

Chris just got a new Ome banjo, an old-time Jubilee model. It's really gorgeous. Here's a photo of us Janet and Chris the NAMM show in L.A. with Tanya and her dad, founder of Ome Banjos, Chuck Ogsbury:

Sightings from the Mysterious Road:

Christian, Eric, and Chris in Koblenz, Germany. The locals tried to convince us that this was traditional headgear for breakfast. We noticed, though, that only Americans were wearing beer stein hats. The town was evacuated that morning because workers found an unexploded American bomb from World War II in an excavation site. Coincidence?

Fun things Please consider buying CDs, Songbooks, caps or t-shirts! And this month's special is a discount on our first album, Saints & Strangers, CDs. Now only $10!
Janet Beazley 5 South Backcountry is not just a band name. We're involved with raising awareness of the needs of the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation. Please take some time to visit a National Park and contribute to causes that support the preservation of the American wilderness and historical sites.
